Dear members, we bring you some new information about the World Sudoku and Puzzle Championship, which will take place in Beijing, China this autumn.

  1. The date we published earlier – October 13-20 – is confirmed now, and you can plan your trip accordingly.
  1. The organizers from the Chinese association have asked us to approve the World Junior Sudoku Championship, which will take place just before the WSPC, from October 10th to 13th at the same venue. They sought approval for several consecutive years, but the WPF Board rejected this and agreed to one trial year. We want to invite all interested junior solvers to join the competition. We will publish more information and a full invitation later. (April 27: we updated the dates, the host informed us that the information about the WJSC is not yet final)
  1. The organizers informed us about the hotel change and assured us that the new one is in a similar location with just as good access to the competition room. It will be at the same price, even if the quality of accommodation is higher. It is a five-star Grand Metropark Jinhai Lake Hotel, which has a capacity of 500 guests.
  1. The official championships website with the registration form will be released in late May. We have asked to speed up the process, but until then, we will publish information on the WPF website and distribute it by email to national representatives.
  1. For questions about travel and help with visas, contact the Chinese organizers by email:

Why is the WSJC held from October 10th to13th? It’s a weekday. Why not have a game on a weekend? In this way, our Chinese teenagers can take part in the competition without cutting classes. Has the match time been set?Can it held on Oct 13th?

Thank you for the comment! The information about the WJSC is preliminary. More information will follow in May. Please note that teenagers from all around the world may participate and their arrival/departure takes a lot of time. With the departure on Sunday, they have enough time to return before Monday, when school starts again. Furthermore, the people of the WSPC arrive on Sunday. But maybe Saturday as competition day instead of sightseeing day would be possible. We will forward your input to the host.

Thank you for your support. But unfortunately, our National Day holiday’s adjusted working day, so we need to have classes on Saturday. We hope to ask our Chinese organizers to see if we can let our Chinese teenagers answer the questions on that Sunday, and then mail the answer sheets to the WPF. Hope to support our Chinese youth enthusiasts. Thank you!
