16th World Puzzle Championship, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)

The 16th World Puzzle Championship (WPC) took place 6 - 11 October 2007 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The organiser was WPF member Brazil, to be specific Ediouro Publicações, the largest puzzle publisher in Brazil.

Individual winner, after an exciting final, was Pal Madarassy from Hungary. Second was Thomas Snyder (right, USA) and third Ulrich Voigt (left, Germany). Best team was team USA.

At the WPF General Assembly, it was decided that the World Sudoku Championship 2009 will take place in Slovakia. The location of the World Puzzle Championship 2009 will be decided on in January 2008. Will Shortz and Valter Kvalic were re-elected as members of the WPF board.
